nah man.. you wanna link as soon as the site is ready to be linked to because that's how webcrawlers:
1. Find the site (even though the url was submitted to most every search engine out there it helps having inbound links because while other people's sites are getting crawled the crawlers will follow the outbound links).
2. Rank the site. Google, especially, ranks sites based on the number and quality of links that a site is receiving. Quality meaning that those other pages linking are aimed at the same target audience and have a ranking for the keywords for which we're looking to receive a high page ranking.
